Toronto Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Showdown With defending champion Dodgers
Springer was instrumental for the Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first World Series after 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the ALCS.
Trailing 3-1, Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh frame, guiding the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a four games to three win in the seven-game series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, the team that is the reigning title, in the forthcoming World Series.
"I'm thrilled for our team, Toronto, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "What an amazing experience."
George Springer has now slugged 23 total October home runs, ranking him third in history behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not another player in the world that I'd choose in that moment except for George Springer with his post-season brilliance," said manager John Schneider.
Seattle, who had led the early in the series, are still the only MLB franchise never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's painful" after his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we finished on the wrong side of this game," he remarked.
Toronto's team secured the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
