Man That Touched Ariana Grande at Premiere Banned from Singapore
A man from Australia that leaped over a barricade and grabbed Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been deported and banned from Singapore.
The individual, twenty-six, was sentenced to nine days in detention for causing a public disturbance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the country's border control told news outlets.
He forced his way beyond security and charged at the performer and artist, who was attending the Asian debut for the musical adaptation on November 13. Co-star Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.
The individual has a record of disrupting concerts and high-profile gatherings, including leaping onto the platform at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in June this year.
The occurrence caused anger in Singapore, with several individuals saying he of triggering past trauma for the singer.
The pop star has discussed suffering from PTSD after a terrorist bombing at her performance in the UK city in several years ago killed over twenty people and injured hundreds.
In the legal process, the judge was informed he had tried to gain access on the film's premiere multiple times, according to local news sources.
He then made a another effort to breach security. Event security prevented him and restrained him.
The man subsequently shared video clips expressing gratitude to the star for allowing his presence and said he was "released."
Police arrested him the following day and brought charges against him with causing a disturbance, to which the man admitted guilt.
The District Judge the judicial official was quoted by Channel News Asia as saying that the man sought attention, noting that he was wrong to think he would not suffer any consequences.
The singer has not spoken about the situation.
Cynthia Erivo spoke about the situation to the press, stating that she "simply desired to make sure my friend was protected."
"I believe he didn't intend us danger, but you can't predict with such situations, and I aimed to make sure that she was fine. That was my initial reaction," she commented.
