Dame Helen Mirren Set to Receive Golden Globe Lifetime Achievement Award.
The acclaimed English actor Helen Mirren, already recipient of an Academy Award, multiple Bafta awards, Golden Globe wins, multiple Emmy accolades, plus a Tony, is poised to earn an additional prestigious accolade to her collection: the Cecil B. DeMille Globes' lifetime achievement award.
Award Event
Mirren, octogenarian, formerly made a dame in 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow back in 2014, will receive the award during a presentation on 8 January, shortly before the primary Globes ceremony occur, as part of an event billed by the Globes as the Golden Eve event.
Also part of the event will be the presentation of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett prize for small-screen contributions, the recipient of which has yet to be announced. The prior year’s honorees were Viola Davis and Ted Danson.
“Dame Helen represents a force of nature, and her career is nothing short of remarkable,” remarked the Golden Globes president, president of the Golden Globes. “Her captivating roles and dedication to acting persistently influence numerous actors and audiences alike. We are deeply honored to bestow upon her the DeMille prize.”
Notable Roles
Helen Mirren gained prominence in the 1970s with key roles in stage productions in London’s theater district and through the Royal Shakespeare Company and in films like O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.
During the nineties, her starring role in the investigative show Prime Suspect increased her popularity significantly. Other key films comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.
She won an Oscar for her performance as the Queen in the cinematic work The Queen, a role she revisited in 2013 within The Audience, Peter Morgan’s play regarding the encounters with the Queen and prime minister Thatcher, a role for which Mirren won a Tony during 2015.

- Subsequent cinematic works feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda & Barbie, which she narrated.
- Mirren’s turn in the Netflix adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has also been praised and honors speculation is growing around her performance as an ailing family head in Kate Winslet’s initial directorial project, Goodbye June.
- Next year, she will appear portraying Patricia Highsmith in the drama by Anton Corbijn, Switzerland.
Globes nominations are set to be revealed on the eighth of December, featuring Anderson’s One Battle After Another, the movie from Chloé Zhao Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners likely to receive multiple nominations.
